By Sam R. Watkins, Private, 1st Tennessee Reg't, "Maury Grays" Company H,  C. S. A. Anecdotes and incidents of battles in which the Army of Tennessee and the Army of the Cumberland fought against each other. We respectfully commend this book as being the best and most personal history of any army ever written. Sam was from Columbia, Tennessee (south of Nashville) and voluteered in the Southern Army at the onset of the war. Outstanding first hand accounts of the day to day dangers, heroics and horror of war. Sometimes he makes you feel the "whirring and buzzing of the bullets" in the heat of battle. Lots of great insight and details of where the Army of Tennessee fought, died and camped. One of the best diary/books I've ever read on the Infantryman during the Civil War.

VIBRA-PROBE 460

Pinpointing Metal Detector

$99.99 / $5.00 Priority shipping

NOTE: TENNESSE RESIDENTS ADD 9.25% TN SALES TAX

Communicates with vibration.

Vibrations equivalent to those received from a pager tells only you when the target is located. Other probes have lights that fade-out in the bright sunlight or buzzers that are difficult to hear, especially when you are wearing headphones from your primary detector. Really pinpoints your target. Other probes detect targets along the sides of the shaft making it difficult to determine the exact location of the target. The VIBRA-PROBETM 460 detects targets at the tip area only and indicates the distance to the target by the number of vibration pulses it produces. Determines distance from the target. A pulse stream (series of vibrations) increases in quantity the closer the tip is to the target. This tells you when you are approaching or touching the target. No other probe has this capability. Requires no adjustments. Other probes require tuning adjustments for optimum performance. Our state of the art microprocessor controlled circuitry eliminates the need for adjustments or tuning of any kind. Two vibrations at turn-on indicates the probe is automatically calibrated and working properly. VIBRA-PROBETM 460 automatically turns off with two distinctive long pulses of vibration after one minute of no target detection. Water proof.  You can use it in the rain, mud, or even thirty feet under water. The standard nine-volt battery is changed by simply rotating the rear knob counter-clockwise two turns and pulling out the compression seal. You can quickly replace the battery and reinstall the seal. Other probes require screwdrivers and will be damaged if they get wet. Solid one-piece construction. Strong enough for you to really probe the soil. Pulse Induction. Use it in salt water at the beach or in any type of soil, including black sand. WHAT IS A PINPOINTER AND WHY DO I NEED ONE? Do you spend 5 minutes (or more) actually retrieving a target when it only took you 15 seconds to locate it? Do you find you are digging larger then necessary holes for a target that was near the surface? Have you walked away from a possible valuable "find" because you gave up trying to retrieve it? A pinpointing metal detector is a miniature version of your primary detector. Small enough to fit in any hole or crevice you are searching and capable of determining the location of the target within 1 or more inches from the tip of the probe, depending on the size of the target. THE BIRTH OF A PRODUCT I have been detecting for over four years now. I became hooked after finding my first nickel at the beach. After that it became my obsession. Within a year I owned five detectors. I have 2 water detectors, one for fresh water in the swim areas where discrimination is important and a PI (Pulse Induction) for the wet sand at the beach, because this type of technology is not bothered by the salt water or black sand. My third is a gold detector that I haven't used much yet (but I will some day). My last two detectors are used the most. One is for the dry sand at the beach. Because of the large area you have to cover, I wanted a unit that is light (I mount mine on my belt). Discrimination is important, but retrieving any target with a sand scoop is very easy. My last one is the most sophisticated. I love to hunt parks, vacant lots, or any old ground area where many people have congregated. For this type hunting where digging in mud, grass and hard ground is required, I bought a detector that has excellent discrimination, pinpointing accuracy, as well as indicating the depth of the target. It was in this last type of treasure hunting I felt I was lacking in expertise or proper equipment. No matter what I tried, metal probes or digging a plug and waving it in front of my detector, I felt they all failed to expedite that final satisfaction of quickly holding the target in my hand. It just took too long! That's when I began looking at Pin Pointing detectors. I was surprised at the lack of thought that went into the many existing pinpointers I researched. They had lights that are difficult to see in the daylight, they had buzzers or piezos that I couldn't hear (especially while wearing my headset from my primary detector). They were constructed very weak where any pressing while probing could break them. Worse than that, they detected the same from the tip of the probe down the shaft about 2 or 3 inches in the same manner. That just isn't pinpointing in my mind! The last problem was when I used one and it became muddy. I washed it off and of course it didn't work anymore because of the water that leaked into it. I then decided to use my personal resources to solve my problem. I happen to own a company that develops and manufactures electronic equipment. I discussed it with my partner and with his agreement we began the development of our probe. The main criteria, I insisted on, was that it would use the Pulse Induction (PI) Technology so the probe could be used in any environment. It had to be strong and waterproof. It had to clearly indicate targets. The rest is history.
