BATTLE OF FRANKLIN LIMITED EDITION BELT PLATES In 1989 to commemorate the Battle of Franklin, Tennessee's 125th anniversary, I designed and had sand cast (as per many original Confederate belt plates) a limited edition of 260 belt plates (buckles). Material is Bronze. The significance of each part of the design are as follows: The six stars above the battle flag are for the six Confederate Generals killed at Franklin: Generals Cleburne, Gist, Strahl, Adams and Granbury. The sixth star is for General Carter who died 10 days after the battle. The 13 stars in the Battle Flag represent the 13 Confederate States: SC, NC, VA, GA, FL, AL, MS, LA, AR, TX, TN, KY and MO. Drooped wing Eagles with CS on breast: The Eagles wings point South, CS stands for Confederate States. Olive branches that surround Eagles: Symbolic of the peace that surrounds the once War torn Southern States. Rope border: represents the coming together of Southern people with Heritage, Pride and Strength. Each limited edition buckle is stamped with its individual number on the back. Fits most any belt with snaps. The molds were destroyed and they will never be manufactured again. Each buckle comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, and is personally signed and numbered. Being that I was directly involved with the 125th Reenactment, I wound up not having time to sell all of them. I probably have 90-100 remaining. Secondary market prices have been $75 and up. Size is 3.5" X 2.75." Price with Priority Mail shipping is $35.00. We accept PayPal, MasterCard/Visa, Money Order or Personal Check. Our mailing address is: Dixie Metal Detectors * 1120 Berwick Trail * Madison, TN 37115 (Enlarged to show detail)
Union Officer's sword belt plate dug in OHIO by Ian. It has the initials VP engraved on the belt tongue. It is a great find of a civil war relic from Ohio. Excellent find Ian, congrats!
Eight Reale dated 1797 found by Mike Harvey at Fort Powhatan, Virginia at the North/South Hunt. The coin has many merchant ID marks on both sides. Mike won a free hunt to next years North/South hunt for his coin being one of the top finds. He uses the Tesoro Cibola. Coin was 11 inches deep with several square nails around it. Great find Mike!
Rare Christian Sharps 4 Barrel Pepperbox brass Pistol Frame I dug this piece in Nashville, Tennessee on 5-22-04 using a Tesoro Silver. It has C. Sharps Phil., PA stamped into the right side plate; C. Sharps Pat'd 1859 on the left side plate, and serial number 19804 stamped into the butt plate. Dug on a Confederate and Union camp site. The barrels had been recently separated from the frame thanks to modern progress and a Bulldozer!
Rare Confederate Whitworth Sharpshooters bullet I recently dug this in Nashville, Tennessee using a custom Minelad Elite. It is my forth Whitworth bullet to find with a metal detector. This rare bullet has a diameter of .45 caliber and weighs 524 grains. This is 24 grains heavier than a .458 Winchester "Elephant Gun" bullet, which weighs 500 grains.

WINTER HUT: WHITE OAK MUSEUM Fredericksburg, Virginia GNRS 2003 If your ever in the area DO NOT MISS this opportunity to visit these folks. Their Civil War relics are fabulous! The fellow on the right (D.W.) owns the place and built several winter huts on the property along with the full scale 12 Pounder Napolean cannon inside. Study his winter huts and you'll gain a wealth of information, especially if you want to learn how to correctly excavate hut sites. You won't be disappointed! I'm on the far left, my friend Jimmy is in the center. Earl is taking the pictures.

ARROWHEADS I collect arrowheads! I buy and trade for them. So if you have any quality, unbroken or damaged points, knives, spears or authentic relics, let me know if you would like to sell or trade them for metal detecting equipment. When I have time (rarely anymore) I like to Flint Knap (make arrowheads). This highly colorful 5.5" Dovetail knife was knapped out of heat treated Coastal Plains Chert. Since Dovetails are not found in the Gulf Coast area, and none are known to be made of this material, this prevents this piece from someday being sold as authentic. Modern points are normally collected as Art Work. However, always be wary when buying "real" arrowheads. Many are sold as authentic points. Some are so well made and artificially aged the experts can't tell. Ebay has more fakes than ever. Caveat Emptor! (Latin for Buyer Beware)
